Beauty Device Safety Checklist: From Power-On Inspection to Aftercare

Water and power checks before start-up, energy testing, contraindication screening and clear aftercare instructions — run the full checklist every single time.

Safety incidents, not poor results, are what close salons. A disciplined checklist culture prevents nearly all of them, and it starts before the client walks in.

Power-on check: inspect water level and water quality on any device with a cooling or water-circuit system, confirm cables and handpieces are undamaged, and run the self-test where the device offers one. Energy test: before treating a client, test the output on your own arm or an inert surface and confirm it matches the set parameters.

Client screening is the second line of defense. At every visit, ask about pregnancy, recent fillers or injections, photosensitizing medication, scarring, diabetes and recent sun exposure — then record the answers. When in doubt, postpone the treatment: a missed session costs minutes, a burn costs the salon its reputation.

After treatment, hand over written aftercare: sun protection, no heat or intense exercise for 24 to 48 hours, a moisturizing routine and a phone number for questions. Log every session — parameters, duration, client response — in the client file. MAKGRAC devices ship with safety checklists and contraindication tables; laminate them and keep them at every workstation.
